Oestriech Lab study featured in Nature Reviews Immunology
Kenneth Oestreich, Ph.D.
A study conducted by a team of scientists from the Virginia Tech Carilion Research Institute and the University of Alabama at Birmingham was featured as a Research Highlight in Nature Reviews Immunology. The research team discovered that two key cell types in the immune system aren’t always fully independent – if the conditions are right, they can convert into one another. This information could lead to therapeutics to help improve vaccine efficacy.
Kenneth Oestreich, an assistant professor at the Virginia Tech Carilion Research Institute, was one of the study’s lead authors. Oestreich is also an assistant professor of biomedical sciences and pathobiology in the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine. Oestreich’s research was included in the same issue of Nature Immunology as a News and Views piece as well.
