The Virginia Tech Carilion Research Institute will host Brain School as part of Brain Awareness Week on the evenings of Monday, March 11 through Thursday, March 14, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.

Many of us engage in self-defeating behaviors that we regret, such as consuming or procrastinating too much. At the extremes, these behaviors may be associated with alcoholism, drug addiction, obesity, problematic gambling, or risky sexual behavior. Students will learn how different brain regions interact to produce these self-defeating behaviors and how the behaviors are expressed in several disorders. In addition, several examples of how to repair these self-defeating behaviors will be considered.

Brain School is free, yet preregistration is required as space is limited.
