Dr. Ashare is currently a Research Assistant Professor of psychiatry and psychology at the University of Pennsylvania Perlman School of Medicine. She received her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from SUNY Buffalo in 2011, followed by postdoctoral training at Yale University School of Medicine before becoming a Research Assistant Professor at Penn in 2012. Dr. Ashare is the PI on two NIH R01 grants on, i) Cognitive dysfunction in treating nicotine dependence in HIV-infected smokers and ii) Targeting the cholinergic pathway in HIV-associated inflammation and cognition dysfunction. She has authored over 40 articles on addiction, abstinence, craving and working memory in smokers.
