Research on post-traumatic stress disorder in veterans receives multimedia attention
President Barack Obama has promised troop withdrawal from Iraq by the end of the year, but as many as 20 percent of those returning troops will experience the traumatic effects of serving long after arriving home.
Virginia Tech Carilion Research Institute scientists are investigating the effects of post-traumatic stress disorder on returning veterans, and their work is now featured in a special multimedia report by the Roanoke Times. The first video in the "PTSD: Private Battles" series gave a glimpse into the lingering effects of trauma on veterans -- as well as the hope that Virginia Tech Carilion Research Institute scientists may have to offer.
Part Three of the print series included a story on the Institute’s research on post-traumatic stress disorder.
