Poelzing Lab

Insert your title here

Led by principal investigator Steven Poelzing, Ph.D., the Poelzing Lab studies the processes of electrical activity between cardiac myocytes and connexin proteins and how mutations are linked to sudden cardiac death, as well as diseases such as heart failure, ischemia, or diabetes. The Poelzing Lab also seeks to determine how pathological insults such as cardiac inflammation and edema modulate the risk of sudden death in the young and how age changes this relationship.

Techniques

  • High-resolution optical mapping
  • Isolated cellular electrophysiological measurements
  • Immunohistochemistry
